About OGImage.io
OGImage.io is an independent set of tools for designing, inspecting, and troubleshooting the images attached to shared links. It is built and maintained by John Sorrentino.
Image generator
The editor renders a 1200 × 630 design in your browser. Text, colors, layout settings, and uploaded assets stay in the active page while you edit. PNG export converts that design into a local download; HTML export gives you editable markup.
Preview and inspection
The preview tool fetches public page markup through a restricted server proxy. The tag inspector analyzes pasted markup entirely in your browser and does not execute it.
What the tools can—and cannot—tell you
Open Graph consumers do not share one rendering engine. Our cards are useful approximations for checking hierarchy, crop, and missing fields; they are not screenshots from Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Discord, or Google. Those services can change layouts, apply their own fallbacks, or show a cached version.
The URL previewer only requests public HTTP or HTTPS pages and images. It rejects private, loopback, link-local, and credential-bearing destinations, limits redirects and response size, and may still fail when a site blocks automated requests. A successful preview here does not guarantee that another platform's crawler has access.
Google search snippets are included as a separate comparison. Google does not use Open Graph markup as the sole source for a result title or description, so that card should not be treated as an Open Graph prediction.
Ownership and licensing
OGImage.io does not add a watermark or claim ownership of the file it generates. You remain responsible for having permission to use any logo, photograph, font, trademark, or other material you place in a design. A tool-generated layout does not grant rights to third-party assets.
The practical default size used by the generator is 1200 × 630 pixels. It is a widely useful starting point, not a promise of identical treatment on every service or placement. Check the current platform documentation and test a published URL before an important launch.
Corrections and contact
Platform requirements change and edge cases are easy to miss. If a guide is outdated or a tool produces a misleading result, please send the URL, expected result, and browser or platform. Concrete reproduction details help us correct the site quickly.
